Democrats Plan Impeachment for Trump as he declares himself a great choice for Pope

Facts Over Fear: A recording from Natalie Bencivenga and Independent Thought's live video

What a week!

I didn’t post much and that was due to the incredibly damaging storms we had tear through my community in Pittsburgh. At least three people died in the area on Tuesday, April 30, 2025. Two of the fatalities were confirmed in Allegheny County, one due to electrocution and the other from a falling tree.A third death was reported in Greene County, also attributed to a falling tree, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

The climate crisis is knocking at our door and my family — like countless others — were without power for days. There are still trees down and power lines down around my neighborhood, and some of our neighbors may not see power for yet another week. The winds, at 80 mph, were like nothing I’ve ever experienced here.

My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering because of the aftermath.

So, thank you for bearing with me as I’ve gotten back into the swing of things with life and work. I missed writing and connecting with all of you and appreciate how many of you have joined this little newsletter that could. As of today, I have 1,136 subscribers. Wow!

Can you help me reach my goal by adding 10 paid subscribers this month? It’s because of all of you that I can continue to build on this work and platform, providing insights and reporting without the corporate overlords censoring the work.

And speaking of work, thank you to Desmond Price for joining me yesterday for our weekly news roundup live video. We talked about so many things including:

  1. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) brings articles of impeachment against President Trump.

  2. Should Trump be the next pope? Sen. Lindsay Graham thinks so!

    3. Could you go to jail for political memes? In Texas, the answer is yes. We break

this down as a new law has just passed the House. The bill faced fierce opposition from hardline conservatives who say it is policing speech and could allow the state to jail people over silly political memes.

Facts Over Fear: Natalie Bencivenga is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

    4. An amendment saying that criticism of the Israeli government is not

antisemitic was added to the Antisemitism Awareness Act on Wednesday in a US Senate committee hearing. The amendment was proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, and approved in a 12-11 vote in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. What does this mean for free speech? We break it down.

    5. And did you hear about Meta’s “digital companions?” They will talk sex with

users—even children. The WSJ reported that Meta cut deals with celebrities to use their voices, assuring them they wouldn’t be used in sexually explicit chats, but that went out the window. We discuss and I can’t wait to hear what you think.
