FACE OUR FEARS: What happens now?
Now that the Senate has narrowly managed to pass Trump’s budget bill because Sen. Murkowski (R-AK) has no backbone and Vice President JD Vance has no moral compass, it is now heading back to the House of Representatives for further action.
The House can take a few actions: They can either approve the Senate's version, reject it, or amend it and send it back to the Senate.
Now, if the House amends the bill — which is most likely — the bill will go to a conference committee to reconcile the differences between the two chambers. This committee is composed of members from both the House and the Senate, and its purpose is to negotiate a compromise version of the bill that can be accepted by both chambers.
Once the conference committee reaches an agreement, the revised bill is sent back to both the House and the Senate for a final vote. If both chambers approve the bill, it is then sent to the President for their signature.
The President can either sign the bill into law, veto it, or allow it to become law without a signature. (We know Trump will sign his bill into law which is why we can’t let it get this far).
I share all of this because I do not want you to give up hope! This isn’t over yet. There is still time to slam the brakes on all of this madness if we can keep the pressure on our representatives.
Fun aside: I didn’t realize how many people were unaware that this bill was even happening. Because I exist in the drinking-from-a-firehose-of-news all day long, I sometimes forget how many people aren’t paying attention or have a hard time digesting how many things are on fire.
For those people, please share post with them because I want to specifically focus on how this bill will impact all of — REGARDLESS of whether you utilize Medicaid or not.
REALITY CHECK: As of June 2025, approximately 71.2 million people in the U.S. (or one-fifth of Americans) are enrolled in Medicaid.
And yes, Trump’s Big Budget Bill from Hell will cut healthcare for 17 million people. According to PBS NewsHour, the cuts would be the largest to Medicaid in the program's history. The bill includes provisions such as work requirements for certain Medicaid beneficiaries and restrictions on provider taxes used to fund the program.
While supporters claim these measures are aimed at eliminating fraud and waste, critics argue they will lead to millions of Americans losing essential healthcare coverage.
So what if you aren’t on Medicaid? Should you care? Short answer is, yes you absolutely should care, and here’s why:
Longer wait times in emergency rooms.
Your health insurance premiums — which are already too damn high — will increase even more.
We will see MANY people lose their jobs.
Rural hospitals will close due to financial pressures in more than HALF the states in America, according to the National Rural Health Association.
We won’t have as many safeguards in place to prevent infectious disease outbreaks, making them more likely.
Your taxes will most likely go up at the state and local level to make up for the loss of federal funds due to the tax breaks for billionaires.
And if they don’t increase your taxes — they will cut your social services.
The bottom line is, Medicaid cuts harm us all, and these cuts will cost lives. There is literal blood on the hands of everyone in our House and Senate voting in favor of passing this horrific piece of legislation that will only further create class divisions in our country, widen inequities, and create terrifying ripple effects for generations to come.
What side of history do we want to be on? Do we want to defend the side that stands up for working people, or the side that cheered when they voted to give billionaires tax breaks at the expense of our communities?
What will we tell our children that we did in order to stop this?
More reasons to DEMAND that our representatives vote NO on Trump’s Bill:
Electricity costs will go up as much as 30% due to tax credits being phased out.
Families and veterans will see the biggest-ever cut in food assistance.
Millions of manufacturing and construction jobs will be destroyed.
The negative impact on our environment will be felt for generations.
And millionaires and billionaires would get a multi-TRILLION dollar tax cut making it the largest transfer of wealth to the top in our nation’s history.
We are in a class war.
We have got to start looking at one another through the lens of class solidarity, put aside our perceived differences and fight back against the the fascist oligarchs who are trying to destroy our lives, our communities and our livelihoods.
We have the right to pursue happiness and we cannot do that with the ruling class’s boot on our neck.
This vote could happen in the House as soon as tomorrow. Contact your representative HERE. (I already did!)
