I attended one of the protests that were happening today across the region. This one took place in Squirrel Hill and was spearheaded by Tracy Baton of the Women's March Pittsburgh, and included other organizations like 1Hood Power, Indivisible and Progress PA.
People came together to protest fascist policies coming out of Washington, DC, but impacting us in our own backyard...including Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. This neighborhood also happens to be where Sen. Dave McCormick's office is located.
Every Monday, a group organizes and protests outside of his office to demand that our elected officials hold the Trump administration accountable for the harm they are causing due to the federal spending freeze, as well as their attempted erasure of so many groups including the disabled, LGBTQ+, immigrants, Black and brown communities and women.
There is power in community -- this was the message of today's protests.
Did you attend a protest today? What action are you doing to make your voice heard? And remember, you can call your representatives to let them know that what is happening across our nation is harming the people...and the people will not stand for it. Power to the people. Always.
CALL: 202-224-3121
And until next time, take care of yourselves and each other. In solidarity, Natalie
