Oklahoma Plans To Teach “2020 Election Was Rigged” In Public Schools

A recording from Natalie Bencivenga and Independent Thought's live video

Desmond and I had some technical issues with this video, so please check back tomorrow for the other topics discussed at the top of this before we shared information around the situation unfolding in Oklahoma.

According to multiple sources, education is going to look a little more conspiratorial thanks to a Trump-supporting superintendent calling the shots on what our children are going to learn moving forward:

Oklahoma high school students studying U.S. history learn about the Industrial Revolution, women’s suffrage and America’s expanding role in international affairs.

Beginning next school year, they will add conspiracy theories about the 2020 presidential election.

Oklahoma’s new social studies standards for K-12 public school students, already infused with references to the Bible and national pride, were revised at the direction of state School Superintendent, Ryan Walters. The Republican official has spent much of his first term in office lauding President Donald Trump, feuding with teachers unions and local school superintendents, and trying to end what he describes as “wokeness” in public schools.

This is a wild story for so many reasons, but I like to think of this as the “Trump effect.” Walters and others like him do not care about anything except pushing their own agenda — no matter how outlandish or how unfounded their reality is. They saw Trump get away with anything he wanted, so they figured they can do the same…no matter who it harms.

REALITY CHECK: It isn’t enough for them to control the courts, the presidency and the media. They want to control our educational system so that only the anti-woke, pro-Trump, pro-fascist agenda is pushed through — using public money, of course.

Does this concern you?

More from the article: The new standard raised red flags even among Walters’ fellow Republicans, including the governor and legislative leaders. They were concerned that several last-minute changes, including the language about the 2020 election and a provision stating the source of the COVID-19 virus was a Chinese lab, were added just hours before the state school board voted on them.

Only desperate people would push something through only hours before a vote so that they can hide their dirty work in the shadows. If he is so confident in his positions, why not allow for public debate?

And we know this cancer of misinformation spreads quickly. What will stop other red states from falling in line, publishing their own alternative facts for students to learn and paid for on the taxpayers’ dime? For fascism to take root, they must control the educational system and who’s going to stop them?

For anyone still wondering, we are in a war for the very heart of this nation. Do we want to return to who we were…or should we finally step into the power of what this Nation could be? A true place for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ALL.
